ADP - ATP
Adenosintriphosphate (ATP) is used in cells as a universal energy transfer agent. Hydrolysis to adenosindiphosphate (ADP) releases roughly 30 kJ/mol.
The formation and hydrolysis of ADP and ATP are catalyzed by magnesium-containing species. The uncatalyzed hydrolysis of ATP has a quite high activation energy.
