The mercaptoacetyltriglycine ligand

This anionic, very hydrophilic ^99mTc compound with a tetradentate mercaptoacetyltriglycinato ligand is used for the depiction of the kidneys and is important in the nuclear medical diagnosis of renal excretion.

This complex, with an affinity for the kidneys, is a relatively small and hydrophilic complex anion. The radioactive metal is in the oxidation state +5 and is found in a square-pyramidal coordination environment.
