Silver Sulfadiazine - a mild disinfectant containing silver
Silver sulfadiazine is used under the trade name Flammazine for protecting burn wounds from necrectomia, since it works deep into necroses. It is, however, assumed that substances that work microbiostatically like silver sulfadiazine are only effective when the amount of infectious particles is small (< 105 KbE/g tissue).
The compound exists as a dimer in which the silver atoms are relatively close together (less than 3 Å apart).
