Proteinogenic Amino Acids
There are ca. 20 proteinogenic amino acids. The connection through amide bonds allows the production of all proteins upon which life is based. The human body is not capable of synthesizing all of the proteinogenic amino acids. Amino acids which thus must be constantly consumed in the diet are called essential amino acids.
