Hydroxyapatite - Fluoroapatite

The mineral hydroxyapatite is, along with collagen, the main component of bone material and is the mineral component of tooth enamel.

The hydroxide ion of the mineral can be partially replaced by fluoride. The thus formed fluoroapatite has a higher resistance to acid and reduces the susceptibility of the teeth to cavities.
