Rubredoxin (from Desulfovibrio vulgaris)

Rubredoxins are small iron proteins that are primarily found in bacteria which metabolize sulfur. They are important in electron transfer in a number of redox processes.

The iron atom is tetrahedrally coordinated by cysteinato ligands of the protein side chain.
